Here’s to new beginnings

And all the old lost winnings

Lie smoldering in dirt, forgotten

Just like every dead hero

Once we’ve spent our days, we’re zero

And I made myself believe you loved me too

But now that all of you are gone

I can let myself see that I was wrong

Love and hate and everything inside

Fade to black and mix with sand and remind me just how hard I tried

But now I start to rise

I stand alone, a new surprise

I can see the dawn is breaking

Here at midnight, I can taste the world

It is ripe and mine for taking

Like a vibrant flag unfurled

I’ll mount a courser and couch my lance

And give them hell in every dance

Nothing left to hold me down

No one here, no one around

I stand above the lakes of blood

I spit upon you, tribes of mud

I am nothing like before

I have penetrated the golden door

Into my future now I run
