Resident Evil 2 Remake Game Review

I never played the old Resident Evil games. I was only seven years old when Resident Evil 2 was released, and thus I was still stuck on the Pokemon games. So when the remake came out a few years back, I was only mildly interested. A buddy of mine was stoked about it, however, and so I did play it for long enough to want to buy it. Then I did not play it until this past October, because, well, I haven't had a whole lot of time for me these last few years. Anyway, I dove in and made it through the storyline of both characters, and I am here to tell you how I feel about it.

The Resident Evil 2 Remake is gritty, gory, and suspenseful. Occasionally you might throw your controller. Frequently, I found I could hear my pulse in my temples. The zombies are durable, the other monsters are outlandish and horrifying, and some of the people are as monstrous as all the rest. It's a good allegory for life.

The story follows Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield as they head to the Raccoon City Police Department. Leon is reporting for his first shift, and Claire is looking for her brother, Chris. You can play as either. They have divergent storylines with different focuses that begin the same.

The controls are typical of a third-person rpg, and when in doubt, the button you need is probably displayed on your screen.

So what's it about? Not zombies. Oh, sure. There ARE zombies, and they ARE a problem. But really, the game is about corporate greed, and all the bullshit that comes along with it. You discover this through documents, computers, and videos strewn throughout the game's landscape.

Is it worth it? Yes. Excellent visuals, pulse-pounding gameplay and a fulfilling storyline make this tale well worth your time.
