A Liturgy of Stones is a book of poems by David Wright, published in 2003. Laced with melancholy, these stanzas are a glance into the midwestern everyman.
I know I'm breaking my pattern with this book, but I've been writing a great deal of poetry, so it fit that I should read some poetry. Besides, how many times can one just go about reading "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" (by T.S. Eliot) and expect to grow? My sister got this book for me for Christmas, and I tore through it in a couple of dingy hours at work.
The rhythms are good, and often the poet forgoes rhyme. Also, the subject matter tends to border upon the mundane, or rather to find the profound within the mundane. If you like poetry, this book may be worth your time.
